LUCID 2019 COMMITTEE
Paul Hunt - Chair
I have been in the protection industry for almost 20 years and represented the FOCUS committee for almost 10 years. I joined both FOCUS and LUCID committees as I’m enthusiastic in helping influence the programme of events and experience for attending delegates, to help broaden their knowledge and learning through hearing new updates on medical and technical developments.
I am the current Chair of FOCUS since Feb 2016 and previously held the role of Secretary for several years. I have been on the LUCID organising committee since 2013 and am delighted to be the Chair for the 2019 conference, bringing LUCID to Scotland!
I am current Treasurer of the Forum Of Claims and Underwriters Scotland (FOCUS) having enjoyed spells and Chair of both FOCUS and LUCID. We work in a dynamic industry where change, innovation and discovery are routine.
LUCID and the other clubs are a great vehicle to help us keep on top of these developments and take a peek in to the future. I am therefore very much looking forward to my 5th LUCID in Glasgow 2019.
I have been a Select 74 committee member since 1999, and I am the current chair (for the second time). I have also represented Select 74 on the LUCID committee since its inauguration in 2009 and had the honour of being the Chair of LUCID 2 in Cardiff in 2011.
I am the current Chair of the AMUS and have been on the committee for over 5 years. Having been in the industry for over 20 years, I am passionate about the development of our underwriters and claims assessors in our market to deliver the highest possible level of technical standards to our consumers.
This is my second LUCID conference representing AMUS on the committee and I am excited to be part of the organisation of LUCID 2019 in Glasgow.
I am the Claims Philosophy Manager for Aviva, having worked in Health and Protection claims for over 15years. I love my job and am passionate about making sure people at all levels of experience get access to excellent industry training. This will be my 2nd Lucid conference and I can’t wait to build on the success of the Bristol event.
I currently sit on the Select 74 committee, a position I have had for the last 3 years and prior to this I spent 6 years on the Health Claims Forum committee.
I joined the AMUS committee last year and am thrilled to be involved in planning the next LUCID event. Having only attended once previously I’m hoping to bring some new ideas (and my relentless enthusiasm!) to the table.
I’m passionate about continuous development in the changing landscape of underwriting, encouraging discussion and thought within the industry and supporting knowledge sharing across underwriting professionals.
I am currently Claims Manager at Guardian Financial Services having joined them in September 2018. Prior to that I spent 7 years working for Swiss Re. I’ve also worked for Aviva, Friends Life and Zurich and have over 20 years of experience of working in variety of different Claims roles.
I’m also the current chair of the Health Claims Forum having joined the committee in 2009.
I’m really passionate about the role of Claims, both in terms of delivering to customers and meeting their expectations when they need our help the most, and also in feeding back their experience into the product cycle to ensure our products continue to evolve and meet customer need.
I’m looking forward to representing the Claims community on the LUCID committee and contributing to another successful LUCID.
I have been a member of the Health Claims Forum committee for 8 years. I am currently the Treasurer and also support the organisation of our 4 Forum days per year. I have been part of the Lucid committee for 2013 and 2015 as a Health Claims Forum representative.
I choose to be a member of both HCF and LUCID to provide our industry with the opportunity to attend events that give access to relevant educational sessions that can make us better at what we do in claims, medical underwriting and insurance medicine.
I’m the Chief Underwriter with Irish Life with over 25 years experience in Underwriting and Life Insurance.
This is my 2nd LUCID conference representing the Health Insurance Society (HIS). I’m really looking forward to Glasgow 2019 and increasing the number of Irish speakers and delegates. I will also be encouraging the various clubs to consider sponsoring non-managerial underwriters and claims assessors to attend LUCID 2019
I’m the Underwriting and Claims Lead with Royal London Ireland with over 25 years’ experience in the industry. I have a keen interest in developing opportunities to improve the health and wellbeing of our customers.
I recently joined the Health Insurance Society (HIS) committee and am delighted to be involved in the organising of the next LUCID conference in Glasgow 2019.

I am also currently on the board for ALUCA in Australia, working hard to help deliver their next conference in October 2018.
I was a member of the Health Claims Forum (HCF) committee for over 12 years, where I assisted in providing topical and relevant educational sessions for HCF members. I was Chairman of the HCF from October 2011 to November 2013.
